Stupidity on Full Display – Trump’s Supporters

This weekend we started to hear from some good Republicans, and they are speaking out against Donald Trump, his coup attempt, and the Republican Party controlled by Trump. The Republicans I know in my personal life have all stayed silent and I expect they will continue to be silent. It is hard to admit how wrong you have been, but you have been very wrong, and this is more than just political choice.

Republicans liked to tout values, well, this time, Republicans have put their values on display, and they are not the values Republicans wanted Americans to value in the past. The Republicans’ values being shared are of corruption and thuggery and would bring the end of our government and democratic traditions. All of this for the worship of a conman. He doesn’t even pay taxes like the rest of us. He is a parasite on America. That is the idol Republicans worship, a parasite just looking for more of their money so he can get and use power again for his personal purposes.

I pity Trump’s supporters – they put their stupidity on full display every day, yes, they do. Am I an elitist? Yes I am when it comes to being willingly stupid. It is one thing to support conservative governing and conservative policies – this is not what supporting Trump is all about, and I think in the hearts of most Republicans, they know this, but they cannot get past the stupid part, or maybe it is all that MAGA gear.

It used to ring a few bells when I would reply to Republicans, “So those folks that attacked the Capitol, paraded the Confederate flag under the dome, and smeared their feces on the walls, those folks are your crowd?” Well, now we know through the courtesy of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, and Trump’s stooges, the folks that attacked the Capitol are “their” crowd. My thanks to the Republican National Committee for confirming my supposition.

I suspect the House Special Committee investigating the Capitol Insurrection on January 6, 2021 is getting close to some of the lynchpins and bigger actors in this act of insurrection, treason, and a failed coup. Now we are hearing from those Republicans that have stayed in the shadows. They know what is coming and it is going to take down those responsible. That’s what we wanted all along from this House Committee, we wanted them to get to accountability and I think they are getting there.

Lots of my opinion here but it needed to be said for a long time.

I am a native Vermonter. I am a child of the 50s, 1951 to be exact. For much of my youth Vermont had one foot in the 19th century and one in the 20th century. The old ways coexisted with a world that was changing. We were sort of insulated in Vermont from much that was happening outside our state, but our little protective bubble was shrinking. My understanding of today has been greatly influenced by the past as the past was always part of our present in the Vermont of the 1950s and even the 60s. I am not much of a follower and like to do my own thinking. You will find my thoughts on many topics here. I value my family and a quiet existence in a very rural part of Vermont. I try to write clearly and simply. I hope you enjoy and thank you for visiting my site. Take care.
