The “Not” Morning News Programs

Am I the only one that is noticing the folks on the morning news programs never shut up? There is no conversation, just noise. They talk fast and often, piling noise on top of noise, and usually they do gang pile ups of noise, just ceaseless noise. Sometimes I think it is not humanly possible to start a new sentence before they have finished their last sentence, but they do. The conversations are like a multi-car pile-up on the interstate.

We hear about noise pollution, well, look no further than the morning news programs. The word “news” is a misnomer – there is very little news that is useful provided. And I am going to stick my neck out here, but I don’t care, the women are the worst offenders in this race to provide noise pollution. I am sorry, but this is true. I wonder if they ever listen to themselves on tape after and see what a mess they make of a news program – it is just noise. They all want to get their comments in, worthwhile or not, but damn, they are going to make noise with their voices.

The networks have added hours to their morning slots and the deeper you go into their occupation of the morning the worse the noise gets. There is no meaningful talk, just noise.

I think I might be better served if I just go out in the morning and stick my head in the chicken coop – about the same difference, but I do get eggs out of the chicken coop.

I am a native Vermonter. I am a child of the 50s, 1951 to be exact. For much of my youth Vermont had one foot in the 19th century and one in the 20th century. The old ways coexisted with a world that was changing. We were sort of insulated in Vermont from much that was happening outside our state, but our little protective bubble was shrinking. My understanding of today has been greatly influenced by the past as the past was always part of our present in the Vermont of the 1950s and even the 60s. I am not much of a follower and like to do my own thinking. You will find my thoughts on many topics here. I value my family and a quiet existence in a very rural part of Vermont. I try to write clearly and simply. I hope you enjoy and thank you for visiting my site. Take care.
